We are a small training consultancy*, specialising in the delivery of NVQs in Supply Chain Management and General Management. Formed in 1987, we celebrated our 20th birthday by achieving our highest ever sales turnover. A major part of the sales increase was undoubtedly the result of using Learning Assistant to manage our NVQ assessment and verification process.

Why use e-portfolios?

e-portfolios are definitely the future. Our clients are looking to reduce paperwork and meet government legislation for increased online activity. The electronic process is far more efficient than the old paper-based format.

Why choose Learning Assistant's e-portfolio system?

Learning Assistant's initial enthusiasm to give us what we were looking for impressed us all. The system is very easy to use, from both the candidate and assessor/IV perspective.

To date, customer service has been excellent: staff are on hand at all times to answer our queries. If they can't help with more technical issues they consult their own experts, and report back as quickly as possible. We have requested some minor 'tweaks' to the system which have been adopted very quickly. Learning Assistant encourage their clients to put forward suggestions, and are not afraid to implement them to enhance their current offering.

What do candidates think of Learning Assistant's

All candidates were impressed with the ease of use, and the straightforward process that was involved in submitting evidence. Candidates who had previously used the traditional paper-based method have taken to the Learning Assistant e-portfolio like 'ducks to water', and frequently comment about the dramatic improvements to the whole NVQ process.

Easy to use?

We've found no obstacles in using the system. It's so efficient that implementation has been backed by all staff.
Learning Assistant's IV system is very good, showing full traceability of the IV process with candidate/assessor feed-back. The system shows assessment plans, and units are verified in an automated way - very useful!

There have been a number of spin-offs resulting from the use of Learning Assistant's e-portfolio:

  • The ability to provide a service for more candidates at a higher level than was ever possible with paper based portfolios. Our candidates throughout the UK and the Isle of Man are happily using the new system.
  • Our carbon footprint has been dramatically reduced, with a drastic reduction in the use of company vehicles - by as much as 50%.
  • We no longer need to produce CDs and other course material. Support materials are provided within Learning Assistant's e-portfolio, making for significantly less environmental waste. Coupled with the provision of 'paperless' evidence, our corporate social responsibility is much strengthened.
